Esztergom Environmental Cultural Association

The association was founded in 1994. It works in Esztergom and the town's environs; its goals are to gather and make public certain particulars about the environmental problems of the region, and to improve the environmental awareness. The association organises programs and activities in order to stop the problems and also to spend the technical devices and behaviours aiming the prevention and education of the environmental damages. On behalf of these aims, the association co-operates with other national societies, institutions, environmentalists and official environmental educational institutions and the regional self-governments. The association establishes and maintains certain institutions which are to ensure the realisations of environmental educational programs, to examine the conditions of the environment, to demonstrate new, environment-friendly technical devices and to help acquiring new technologies for taking care of the environment. The association strives to widely spread the environmental awareness by propaganda in its region; for the purpose of making publicity it uses several mediums. The association establishes and maintains national and international connections with other associations and societies of similar aims." For the goals set in our constitution we do mainly voluntary works. Our duties are: to organise forums, further vocational trainings, exhibitions, actions that call one's attention to the environmental damages, campaigns on environmentally significant days, environmental patrols. The local people are informed through local newspapers, radio, television and leaflets. Our temporary publication is the Környezetvédelmi Hs, radio, television and leaflets. Our temporary publication is the Környezetkultúra Hírlevél (Environmental Culture Newsletter). We have established an 'ecoyard', i.e. an exhibitional farmyard which is for demonstrations and environmental educational purposes. Being a member of the Environmental Advisory Centres' Network, we run our own advisory office. In the Green Power Network we work on spreading methods for using renewable energy, and on increasing the efficiency of energy consumption.

The service is free of charge, our officers help solving your problems and willingly give any environmental information.

Information about environmental-friendly and effective use of energy, products and possibilities. Spreading the methods of using renewable energy, giving information and help in the realisation of these systems (solar collector systems, thermo-pumps, energetic use of the biomass, windwheels). Actions for making solar collector systems in groups. Revision of household energy consumption (measurements and advice). Preparing and spreading scientific and educational materials to increase the environmental awareness.
